Ivette Rego
Executive Director
If you’ve walked the hallway of any school and have crossed paths with a bright-eyed hugger with a smile from ear to ear, you most likely have met Ivette Rego. If you ask her what’s behind that smile, she’d gladly share how Jesus changed her life in more ways than one. For starters, she has been a part of the One Child at a Time family since 2012 as an educator, and 2021 as a grant writer. In 2023, the Lord Called Ivette Rego to lead in the new role as Executive Director. She graduated from FIU with a BA in English and a minor in Education. After years of tutoring and teaching in the private and charter school sector, she came across 1CAAT and became passionate about their whole-child learning approach–it goes beyond academics! Since then, her pursuit of education has taken a whole new meaning. She received certification for Rx Reading and Search & Teach from the NILD, but considers herself a life-long student. She is genuinely excited and eager to continue providing the support and resources to students and families in need, alongside her amazing team of specialists, educators, board and partnering schools. She is committed to serve in this meaningful work to the best of her abilities. When she’s not brainstorming ideas for the organization, she’s enjoying brunch on sunny days in the city with her geeky husband, two spunky daughters and loveable 80 lbs. chocolate Labrador named Tango.

Tracy Cuesta
Educational Therapist
I have been a devoted Christian for as long as I can remember. My parents began taking me to church when I was six weeks old, and I have continued to be part of a church, serving in different roles since. My faith has been a guiding force throughout my life and career, and I continuously seek His guidance in all I do. I am so thankful to my Lord and Savior for His sacrifice.
I met my husband in high school, and after dating for six years, we decided to get married. We have been married for the past 32 years and look forward to many more. Together, we have raised two wonderful sons, Nicholas age 29 and Stephen age 25, and yes, they are still my babies!
With a passion for education, I spent 30 years as a classroom teacher. In 2020, I felt a divine calling to make a transition in my career, pursuing certification as a Professional Certified Educational Therapist (PCET). This new path allowed me to work more closely with students in the areas of Educational Therapy, Search & Teach, Executive Functioning, and Reading Rx.
In a significant step of faith and much prayer, I decided to transition from a full-time lead position to a part-time role at a Christian school to pursue my desire to join the One Child Team, where I could make an even greater impact in the lives of my students. Through my work, I continue to embody my Christian values, striving to nurture and support each student’s unique learning journey.

Joanna Castro has been teaching for 19 years, and after joining the One Child At A Time team in 2018, has found her journey as an educator only become more enriching and fulfilling. Every time she gets to work with a new student it is an exciting opportunity to learn from new connections and pursue the calling she has received from God to contribute to the intellectual and spiritual growth of children. It is a continuous gift to be part of a child’s educational expedition. Ensuring that students receive the encouragement and tools they need to flourish and thrive is a responsibility that she is honored to be tasked with. She is grateful to be able to work with such an incredible organization that is devoted to supporting students in reaching their fullest potential, both in academics, and in life.
